Mamduh from Egypt - Good Goals, But Too Many Deaths?
Dear America,
You're a good country with good, kind people. And I believe it was good of you to go get us rid of the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban in Afghanistan, and of Saddam in Iraq... But, really, you should find a way for you to end the wars that started, and that don't seem to be approaching an end any time soon.
You happen to have a common enemy as some of us in the Middle East; that is religious fundamentalism. This is probably just out of our good luck to find a country like you to defend us against fundamentalist Islam. But, on the other hand, should so many people really be dying?
I oppose Taliban, Saddam, and all other dictatorships in the Middle East (including the dictatorship in Egypt). But, at the same time, I'm not happy with the death of so many people in Iraq and in Afghanistan...
I hope you find ways to end your current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, now that you've done a big part of your good goals there (got rid of Iraqi dictatorship, and Afghan fundamentalism).
Good luck in that, America.

Mamduh: "But, really, you should find a way for you to end the wars that started, and that don't seem to be approaching an end any time soon."
Mamduh, we didn't start the war in Afghanistan. The Taliban hosted Al Qaeda which killed three thousand Americans on Sep 11. Remember?
We didn't start the war in Iraq. That started when Saddam invaded Kuwait, when he refused to abide by the UN peace provisions, when he tried to assassinate our ex-president Bush the elder with a car bomb in Kuwait, when he fired six hundred missiles at our aircraft, when he posted rewards to kill or capture our military people, when he developed chemical agents to use for terror attacks, when he trained terrorists (2000 per year, 8000 total), etc.
Perhaps you should consider that the Arab Muslims should not be so reckless in starting wars.
Mamduh: "You happen to have a common enemy as some of us in the Middle East; that is religious fundamentalism. This is probably just out of our good luck to find a country like you to defend us against fundamentalist Islam. But, on the other hand, should so many people really be dying?"
Those are my thoughts exactly the day of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Perhaps if Islam was to give up its war of terror on the non-Muslim world these needless deaths would stop.
Mamduh: "I oppose Taliban, Saddam, and all other dictatorships in the Middle East (including the dictatorship in Egypt). But, at the same time, I'm not happy with the death of so many people in Iraq and in Afghanistan..."
I'm not happy with deaths either, Mamduh, particularly Taliban killing off teachers and ordinary Afghans who don't want to live under their rule. The problem is that radical Muslims are not peaceful people. Violence is their first resort.
Mamduh: "I hope you find ways to end your current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, now that you've done a big part of your good goals there (got rid of Iraqi dictatorship, and Afghan fundamentalism). Good luck in that, America."
Mamduh, we did not start these wars. We did not throw the World Trade Center at those passing airliners full of Muslim terrorists. We did not make Saddam invade Kuwait. These wars will not stop until Muslims stop them and learn to live in peace with their neighbors and the world.
mamduh, I wish things were going better in your region. My country has been a part, small imho, of the problem. I hope things work out for everyone.
It's the fanatics and thugs in Iraq and Afghanistan that are doing most of the killing. All our troops are doing is going after them in an attempt to bring order and stability. If we left tomorrow, all that would happen is a Sadam clone would take power and you would be right back where you started.
I'll leave you with this:
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
Thomas Jefferson
Mamduh: I hope you find ways to end your current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, now that you've done a big part of your good goals there (got rid of Iraqi dictatorship, and Afghan fundamentalism).
And so do the vast majority of Americans. My question to you as a citizen of Eygpt and direct to Iraqs other neighbors, where the hell are your governments assistance?
Why have none of the surrounding countries aided in stopping the violence?
Where are the Arab troops assisting an Arab neighbor?
Marc, what a wise comment! yes where are the other arab neighbors
comming to the aid of Iraq's people when Saddam was massacaring his own! Yes where were they indeed! It's America that comes to help, not even Iraq's own neighbors wanted to help, so much for Arab solidarity!
